Self-Advocacy & Conflict Resolution:
Communication and Negotiation Skills Training

Requesting reasonable accommodations and effectively resolving disputes which occur during that request. A structured curriculum that teaches communication skills to people who have disabilities and who may be requesting reasonable accommodations in a work environment. This program is a valuable tool for any rehabilitation professional whose goal involves preparing individuals with disabilities to implement workplace, academic, or independent living accommodations.

Work Environment, Job Satisfaction, and Rehabilitation Counseling

This study focuses on the relationship between rehabilitation counselor job satisfaction, perceptions of professionalism, and extrinsic job factors. It is expected that extrinsic job factors (e.g., location of agency, amount of travel, perceptions of personal safety) will reliably predict counselor job satisfaction and the self-perception of professionalism.

Self-Employment: A Viable Employment Outcome for People with Disabilities

Implementing a qualitative methodology, the object of this study is to identify factors contributing to the success of persons with disabilities choosing self-employment as a vocational alternative. This study is being conducted in collaboration with Dr. Kay Schriner at the Arkansas Research and Training Center on Employment of People with Disabilities
